Athletes warned against doping

Leaders from Trans Nzoia County have asked athletes from North Rift region to embrace discipline and avoid being influenced by rogue physicians to consume enhancement drugs.
The leaders led by Endebbes MP Robert Pokose and 2012 Boston marathon champion and former Cherangany MP Wesley Korir said it was sad that some athletes from the region were facing a ban over use of enhancement drugs.
The leaders regretted that doping has remained a major setback to the career of athletes in the region.
Speaking to KNA, the duo called on athletes in the region to embrace education and discipline to enable them succeed in their careers.
“I urge the Athletic Kenya officials to educate our athletes and accord them full support in order for them not to be doubted by anyone,” said Pokose.
According to Korir, most young athletes are lured into banned drugs by cartels out to get quick money by selling enhancement drugs to them to the detriment of their careers.
“To be a successful athlete, you need to have a high sense of discipline and determination in order to succeed; without that you are nothing,” he said.
