Siaya Develops Socio-economic Recovery Strategy

Siaya county government has come up with an economic strategy to help the region recover from the effects of Covid-19, area governor Cornel Rasanga has said.

Rasanga said that the strategy would help stimulate the economy and would entail helping small scale traders.

Addressing the media at his Segere village home in Siaya, Rasanga said that part of the strategy to ensure money is put into economic stimulus activities would involve infrastructure development to facilitate trade.

He said that his government would work closely with the County Assembly to push for the enactment of the village administration and village council bills to improve public participation in governance.

On development, the governor said that 2021 would be devoted to completion of key legacy projects, among them the modern stadium in Siaya town.

Rasanga called on Siaya residents to be wary of the Covid-19, saying that the beginning of a new year should not make Kenyans drop their guard against the pandemic.

“We have to maintain vigilance and continue wearing masks, keeping social distance and sanitising our hands to keep coronavirus at bay,” he said.
