Well-wisher constructs bridge for residents of Homa-Bay town East Ward

Residents of Homa-Bay town constituency are a delighted lot after a volunteer constructed afresh a bridge that collapsed a few months ago.
The residents had held a demonstration over the poor state of Nyalkinyi junction-Otaro-Majiwa-Imbo road last month while accusing their leaders of failing to repair the bridge which connects various primary and Secondary schools in Nyalinki, Otaro and Owambla as well as some trading centers and villages.
The residents now have a reason to smile after a well-wisher, Mr. George Miyare came to their aid and reconstructed the bridge. Miyare said he took the initiative following an outcry by residents in local media.
Speaking at Nyalkinyi junction trading centre in Homa-Bay town East ward while handing over the bridge to the community, Miyare said the bridge will ensure smooth movement of people and goods to various parts of the region and called on the County government of Homa Bay to maintain the bridge as well as that road.
“I want to urge the county government to work for the people who elected them and listen to their grievances,” Miyare said.
The residents including traders and bodaboda operators who participated in the demonstration last month thanked the philanthropist for coming to their rescue.
