Isiolo county government has been given two months to solve property disputes caused by double allocation of land by senior county officials.
Speaking to KNA after courtesy call to the County Commissioner Herman Shambi and County Secretary Dr. Ahmed Galgallo, the Chairlady of the Commission on Administration of Justice Florence Kajuju said that Isiolo County has 83 cases of double allocation made by senior government officers by grabbing lands from innocent citizens.
Kajuju said that most affected area Mwangaza area in Wabera Ward where senior county government officials colluded with some administrators to grab land by backdating fake letters in order to remove the rightful owners.
She added that they have given Isiolo County Government the ultimatum to solve double allocation of lands and also pay county workers who were laid off illegal without pay.
The chairperson warned that after the end of the two-month period they will summon all the culprits involved and take them to court.
The Ombudsman also added that her organization would soon open a regional office for Laikipia, Samburu and Nyandarua Counties to bring services closer to tax payers.
She further said that her organization had received complaints from several counties for denying youths, women and the disabled 30 percent of government contracts, which were supposed to be given to them.
Kajuju said that some county governments were denying members of the public access to information in order to hide and continue perpetuating corruption in the tendering system.
