A man in Kebeneti village within Kericho County has sent out a passionate appeal to the government and the public to help him trace his 13-year-old daughter who went missing from home a week ago.
Speaking to KNA today, the father Mr. Paul Kiprono Kemboi said the teenager Valentine Cherono Rono who sat for her KCPE this year at Mwebe Primary School and scored 244 marks, was sent on an errand by her mother on 22 November but never returned home.
The distraught father told KNA according to the report he got from his wife, his daughter had stayed at home picking tea from the family’s tea plantation and left in the afternoon at 2pm to the tea buying centre but has not been seen since.
He said that the following day, his wife embarked on a search of their daughter at her mother’s house which is situated nearby but failed to find her and this prompted his in-laws, village elder and Nyumba Kumi members to join in the search that bore no fruit.
Later his wife received information from villagers that the missing girl had been seen in a neighbour’s house in the company of a man.
In a strange twist of events, his wife on arriving at the said house that is situated some 500 metres from their home, his daughter and the alleged young man identified as Shadrack Kibet Yegon were never found as reported.
Mr. Kemboi suspects the young man as being behind the disappearance of his daughter.
“My family is spending sleepless nights searching and wondering where my second born child could be. I have been forced to be away from my work and I have every reason to believe the information I received from my wife regarding the young man who is said to be around 20 years suspected to be with my child to be true,”said Kemboi.
The father of three, who is also a worker at Finlay’s Tea Estate further added that on receiving the distressing news, he reported the matter at the Sondu police station after all efforts to trace his daughter in the village failed.
