Let us sign the BBI Petition, urges Governor Mutua

Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader and Presidential aspirant Dr. Alfred Mutua has called on Kenyans to sign the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill saying the proposed constitutional amendments will boost devolution.
Mutua who spoke in his Machakos office Tuesday during the swearing in of James Musango Kathili as the first County Attorney of Machakos County said once passed into law, the constitutional amendments will help increase funds allocated to counties by 35 percent.
“Programmes to better the welfare of citizens, such as quality healthcare, building of roads, schools and agricultural production will be realized,” said Dr. Mutua.
The Machakos county boss further called on Kenyans to adhere to the rule of law citing that Kenyans have cultivated a culture of being disrespectful to law and regulation, including wanton disregard to wearing facemasks amid a new spike of the pandemic.
Last week, barely a day after the national launch of the BBI signature collection, Dr. Mutua lauded the initiative saying it gives hope for a fresh start in the country.
Governor Mutua said Kenyans are thirsty for rapid economic growth that provides jobs, good healthcare, ensures food security and more money in their pockets, among many other socio- economic needs.
According to the Governor, the BBI amendments are providing a foundation for equitable economic growth as a matter of right as well as changing governance to ensure a more peaceful and stable country, which is an enabling factor to the country’s socio- economic emancipation.
Dr. Mutua stated that it will also ensure development to all parts of Kenya, very importantly, promote investment and entrepreneurship for jobs at the grassroots, and cushion the youth from the current hostile environment.
He reiterated that BBI will also effectively deal a great blow to corruption and a culture of fairness instituted so that every Kenyan’s dream can be fulfilled without hindrances, nepotism, tribalism or bribery.
The county boss however regretted that corruption has made the cost of doing business in Kenya impossible and deprived Kenyans their right to services adding that it is time to slay it with practical and punitive measures through the Constitution.
The Governor further urged all Kenyans of goodwill to append their signatures in support of this process adding that it is a process that will empower ordinary Kenyans through the law so that they no longer rely on handouts and tokens from politicians.
