The government is committed to sustain Inua Jamii social protection programme after disbursing over Sh.127- million to benefit registered Older Persons (OP), Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC’s) and People Living with Severe Disabilities (PLWSD) in Kilifi County.
The 32,014 people have benefited with their July-August 2020 Inua Jamii cash stipends amounting to Sh 127,948,000.
They included 21,886 Older Persons (OP), 9,302 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and 826 Persons Living With Severe Disabilities (PLWSD).
Kilifi County Social Development Officer Dora Chovu said the 21,886 older persons received Sh. 87,544,000, the 9,302 OVCs received Sh. 37,208,000 while the 826 PLWSD received Sh.3,296,000.
“The government disbursed the funds directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts and we have been urging them to go for their funds. Those facing biometric challenges like disappearance of their finger prints come for assistance in our offices,” she told KNA in her office Tuesday.
She said stipends for September and October 2020 are yet to be released by the National Treasury and that the beneficiaries would be informed once they have been disbursed.
