Candidates in Kakamega County who passed KCPE and wish to obtain scholarships from Equity Bank have until December 6, 2018 to apply.
According to the bank’s manager, Peter Akwoyo, the process of issuing bursaries to needy cases had just begun.
He said that those to be awarded support by the bank must be from poor back grounds, orphans and the physically challenged.
The bank is the key sponsor of the Wings to Fly, a programme offering comprehensive scholarships, mentoring, and leadership development training to economically disadvantaged students joining secondary schools in the country.
Akwoyo was distributing food stuff and clothes worth Sh. 200,000 to a children’s home in Kakamega town.
The food stuffs included maize, beans and rice.
The manager urged children at the catholic sponsored children’s home to also give out to others after they succeeded in life.
Head of the Catholic sponsored children’s home, Divine Providence, Sister Mariam thanked the bank for its donation, saying this was a gesture of love for the community.
The home which also has a primary school takes care of babies abandoned and dumped in various health facilities.
She appealed to the county government and other well-wishers for further support.
