Residents of Kimkung village, Kapsokwony location in Mt Elgon Sub-county of Bungoma County were left in shock after thugs raided two homes and stole two bulls.
The homesteads are three kilometres away from the police station.
In an interview with the owner of the stolen livestock today at his home, Samuel Kimkung told the KNA that at around 1.30 am Wednesday night he heard a commotion outside his compound which roused him to find out what was happening outside.
“The commotion scared me and my family causing me to go and check what was really happening. I was forced to call the police who arrived on time but they did not catch up with thieves, since they had already disappeared,’’ said Kimkung.
He added that he realized a black bull that he had tied outside his compound amongst other cows was missing.
The scene police visited the scene and established that two bulls were stolen from different homesteads.
Kimkung said that he had heavily invested in his bull with hopes of making good returns in future but now he is at a loss.
The police combed the area but no arrest or recovery was made as the thugs had already escaped with the two bulls.
Confirming the incident, Mt Elgon Sub-county police Commander Samuel Anampiu called on residents to be careful with their wealth and notify the police in case of any suspicious person within the area.
“I want to ask Mt Elgon residents to work closely with the police and ensure that they report any suspicious persons spotted within the area,” he said.
He assured Mt Elgon residents that the police have launched investigations and they will arrest the culprits.
