Police Seize 450 kilos of bhang on Transit

Police in Kitui on Thursday impounded a vehicle ferrying 450 kilos of bhang packed in nine bags.

Kitui Deputy County Police Commander Grace Thuo said the narcotics were seized at Kaveta area along the Kitui-Kabati road.

She said officers on patrol noticed the suspicious vehicle, a Toyota RAV4, and flagged the driver to pull over. The vehicle was headed to Kitui Town.

The vehicle’s back seats had been removed to create more room for the load of narcotics which was concealed under a black polythene paper and a blanket.

“But the driver, upon pulling over, alighted from the vehicle and fled on a boda boda before the officers could reach his car,” she said.

Thuo said though the suspect managed to escape arrest, a manhunt had been launched to track him down.

“Let the suspect stay warned that we are in pursuit and we will eventually apprehend him so that he can face the law,” warned the Deputy Police Boss.
