Police in Homa Bay County are investigating the death of a 25 year-old man whose body was found dumped in a bush within Maguje village in Kanyach Kachar location of Homa Bay town constituency Thursday evening.
The body of Erick Ochieng Opiyo that had deep cuts in the neck, waist and abdomen was found by villagers who later informed the area chief.
According to Chief Bernard Omuga, Ochieng, who resided in the same village, was suspected to have been killed in his house and the body dumped in the nearby bush to conceal evidence.
Omuga said police officers found some traces of blood on the floor of the deceased’s house as well as at the door and outside the house.
The administrator added that the assailants also partly burnt his mattress within the compound and the remaining portion also had blood stains.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum confirmed the incident saying they have arrested the wife to the deceased Santra Achieng as investigations into the murder commenced.
Tum appealed to anybody with relevant information regarding the matter to confide it to security agencies.
The body was taken to Homa Bay county Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
