Two people lost their lives following a grisly road accident near Kisumu Museum along Kisumu Nairobi highway last night.
Kisumu Central sub-county police commander Peter Kattam said a lorry driver lost control of the vehicle before it veered off the road crushing an oncoming saloon car which had three occupants.
Kattam said the driver was trying to avoid hitting a motorcyclist who suddenly crossed the road and ended up landing in a ditch.
He disclosed that a 10 year old boy who was in the saloon car and a loader in the lorry died on the spot.
The other two passengers escaped with serious injuries and were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
He said the driver of the lorry disappeared but police officers are looking for him to ensure that he records a statement over the grisly accident.
Kattam cautioned boda boda operators to be more careful and keenly observe traffic rules to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
The bodies of the boy and the passenger were taken to JOOTRH mortuary awaiting postmortem.
