No leader implicated in graft will be spared by ODM

Orange Democratic Movement National Chairman John Mbadi has maintained that the party will not save any leader facing corruption charges and must face impeachment.

Mbadi reiterated that as a party they fought for devolution to benefit all Kenyans but not few individuals.

“As a party we will not condone any form of corruption by our Governors. Whoever is found culpable of misuse of public funds must be shown the door, no matter who you are or position you hold in the party,” Mbadi stressed.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado is facing impeachment for allegedly embezzling over Sh73m a case which also involves his four children. They are however out on Sh18.2m bond.

“Do not think that we will end our fight against corruption with Migori only, any Governor be he from Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya or anyone elected on ODM ticket once found culpable of corruption, we will impeach you,” he said.

The Suba South MP said Sunday while commissioning various development projects in his constituency where he revealed that being the chairman, he is the second in command in the party after party leader Raila Odinga and any of his pronouncements reflect the final position of the party.

He added, “Once a party makes a decision, one must match home; our party does not want to condone corruption and do not think we are going to end the impeachments with Migori,”

“Anyone who will be found responsible for corruption charges by EACC or DCI and then taken to court and be barred from holding office, home direct,” added Mbadi.

The legislator further defended the decision saying once a decision is made by the party too leadership is final.

“ODM is like a Catholic Church which is being headed by the Pope assisted by the Cardinal, if the Cardinal speaks and the Pope keeps quite, the cardinals word is final,” he said.

“In ODM our Pope is Raila Odinga and the Cardinal is John Mbadi, if you hear Mbadi speak and Odinga does not oppose, know it is a decision by the ODM and can never be opposed,” he said.

At the same time Mbadi warned Migori MCAs who will be against the impeachment of the embattled Governor saying they will have signed their expulsion certificate and will neither accept their money or be admitted back in the party but to look for some other party come 2022.

During the occasion, the MP also commissioned water projects, dormitories constructed through the National Government Constituency Development Fund at a cost close to Sh20m.

He hit out at his Migori critics who have been saying he had failed to develop the constituency especially in improving the conditions of the roads.

Mbadi further revealed that the road from Mbita-Sindo-Magunga-Sori which has been a major headache for the transport sector in the region has already been tendered and the contractor is on the ground.
