One person was burnt beyond recognition this morning after the vehicle he was traveling in was involved in a road accident at Suswa area on the Narok- Maai Mahiu route.
According to the Narok County police Commandant Kizito Mtoro, a Toyota Wingroad car with registration number KCR 956B that was being driven from the Narok side was trying to overtake another car when it collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Premio vehicle.
The impact caused a fire outbreak and the driver of the Toyota Wingroad, who was traveling alone at the time of the accident, was burnt beyond recognition.
“At the moment we are not sure of the people injured because they were rushed to the hospital by well-wishers who were there at the time of the accident,” said Kizito.
The body was taken to Narok referral hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.
The county police boss asked drivers to be vigilant and observe traffic rules while plying the highway to avert accidents.
“Drivers should be very vigilant when driving and more so when overtaking. They should observe simple traffic rules like avoiding overtaking on slopes or around the corner. Let us be each other’s keeper on the roads,” he said.
He warned reckless drivers that the law will take its course and they will be charged for their misdeeds.
