County Assembly wrangles condemned

Homa Bay County Assembly members have been challenged to find an amicable way of solving leadership wrangles instead of resorting to physical confrontation that lowers the integrity of the legislative house.

Anglican Church of Kenya South Nyanza Diocese Bishop Dr Edward Simon Onyango said that the MCAs in the county assembly are portraying the County in bad light
Bishop Onyango observed that constant wrangling among the MCAs is weakening their ability to oversight the executive, adding that the Assembly leadership quarrels have compromised its functions.
Speaking to the press at his office in Homa Bay town while receiving a delegation from Uriri Sub County led by the area MP Mark Nyamita on Monday, Dr Onyango called on the professionals and leadership experts to engage the MCAs in solving the current wrangles that have marred the Assembly.

The cleric further reiterated that cooperation of the leadership experts and peace crusaders will find a permanent solution to the current leadership problems facing the Assembly.

At the same time Bishop Onyango called on MCAs to shun violence while debating matters of public interest but added they should observe sobriety and decorum during debate so that the integrity of the Assembly is upheld.

On his part Nyamita appealed to the churches to initiate income generating activities to supplement the efforts of Christians instead of relying on their tithes which sometimes could face a challenge.

Nyamita added that the source of income could caution the church in case of any calamities as it is at the moment with Covid-19 pandemic.

He regretted that there are some churches which are commercial without any foundation of Christianity thus fleecing Christians of their meager income.
