County Government donate equipment to aid Kazi Mtaani

Narok county government has donated wheelbarrows, rakes and spades to the youth working in the Kazi Mtaani programme in the County in a bid to boost their productivity.

The county’s executive Member in Charge of Land and Urban Planning Vivian Seriti handed over 100 wheelbarrows, tens of rakes and spades to County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti to be distributed equally to the six sub counties.

The commissioner lauded the County Government for working closely with the National government to see that the programme initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta become a success.

“This is very encouraging because the county government has seen the need to boost this initiative. I believe the tools added will boost their efficiency and improve sanitation in all our towns and trading centres,” said Kimiti.

He lauded Kazi Mtaani adding that since its launch in the county, the town’s sanitation has improved and cases of theft reduced.

“I am a happy man today because I see our young people who were idling in town doing nothing busy cleaning the town. I think this is the way to go so as to ensure everybody despite their level of education earns a living,” reiterated Kimiti.

Ms Seriti said the county government will continue working with the National Government with a common goal of improving the livelihood of the county residents.

“Our goal is the same, to boost the livelihood of all residents in our county. The common mwananchi does not understand the difference between the national and county governments, what they want to see is development in their areas,” added Ms. Seriti.

Traders in Narok town have embraced the programme saying it has improved cleanliness in the town. “We are happy that our president introduced this programme. Our children are busy working and earning an income and at the same time the heaps of garbage around the town are no more,” he said.

About 3200 youth from the county are benefiting from the programme where each earn Sh 455 per day while their supervisors get Sh 500.
