Oparanya Reshuffles His Cabinet

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has reshuffled his cabinet to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

The county boss had earlier complained that some county officials and executive members had taken advantage of his absence from the county to engage in graft.

Oparanya dropped the Environment and Natural Resources Executive Barasa Wangwe and was replaced by Fanuel Kulati while the Deputy Governor (DG) Prof. Philip Kutima lost his Agriculture and Livestock Development to Rachel Okumu, formerly in charge of Health Services.

He also merged the dockets of Finance and Planning with ICT, e-Government and Communication which will be under Dr. Beatrice Sabana who moves from the Public Service to replace Geoffrey Omulayi.

Omulayi has taken over the Roads, Energy and Public Works docket formerly headed by Dr. Collins Matemba who is the new Executive for health services.

The former Chairperson of County Public Service Board Rhoda Masaviru will be in charge of the Public Service and Administration while Alfred Matianyi, formerly of Lands, Housing, Urban Areas and Physical Planning moved to Trade, Industrialization and Tourism.

Robert Makhanu, formerly in charge of Social Services, has moved to Lands, Housing and Urban Areas and replaced by Kassim Were from Trade. Dr. George Lutomia from ICT will be at the helm of Education, Science, and Technology.

Oparanya said that the changes are to be effected immediately and directed the deputy governor to oversee the handing over exercise in a week’s time.
