Love Triangle Turns Tragic

Police in Bomet have arrested a man and his alleged female partner at Kapkwen market following the death of a middle aged man in their house last Friday night.

County police service commander Mrs Naomi Ichami told the press in her office that the couple was being held at Bomet police station and were assisting police with investigations.

“We have reports that a middle-aged man was fatally stabbed in a dispute over a woman at a rented room at Kapkwen market of Chepalungu sub-county,” she said.

The County commander said detectives are investigating the matter, adding, the suspect surrendered himself to police in Bomet town claiming his life was in danger.

At the time of surrender, Ichami said, police did not know what was going on but on visiting the scene they discovered that he was involved in the said incident. The woman in question has also been arrested. She said the duo will be charged in court on Monday and asked residents to remain calm.

“We have taken up the matter and are going to charge the two suspects with murder since the body was found in their premise,” she stated.

According to neighbours, commotions from a rented room where the female suspect was living, woke them up on Saturday night, but they were not aware of what transpired until police arrived with the suspect.

Itembe Sub location assistant chief, Mr Samson Ngetich, where the incident occurred said that the supposed husband arrived and found the woman with another man and immediately picked a quarrel and a physical fight ensued leading to the death of one of the characters.

He said some minutes after the commotion the woman started screaming and locals who were responding found the man had been stabbed and the suspected aggressor had disappeared.

“On reporting the matter at Chebunyo police station, they were told that the suspect had already surrendered himself at Bomet police station,” Mr Ngetich said.

He noted, homicide cases were on the rise in the area especially during this period of Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

“We appeal to young couples to respect familial advises and stick to their marriages,” he said.

The victim’s body is lying at Longisa hospital mortuary.
