Security agents in Kisii County on Tuesday criticized bars and restaurants operators for flouting Covid-19 regulations even as the Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe decreed rules barring sale of alcoholic drinks to sit-in customers in such premises following the spike in Covid-19 infections in the country.
Led by the Kisii County Police Commander, Jebel Munene and the CEC Administration, Edna Kangwana, they castigated the business owners for operating beyond the legal time and selling alcoholic drinks to sit-in customers.
This follows revelations that a cross section of the Covid-19 patients in the County were attendants in such businesses.
Munene ordered bar owners to remove all alcoholic drinks from their counters and serve only food.
He urged them to cooperate with the security team to minimize chances of Coronavirus spreading.
Kangwana appealed to residents to exercise individual responsibility in containing the disease which has currently infected 12 people in the county and over 14,000 in the country.
She urged residents to honor the ministry of health protocols in containing the spread of the global pandemic.
