The Equity Bank Foundation has donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) worth Sh.237million to the Mandera county government to help in combating spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
The Bank’s Marketing Director, David Nyamu while handing over the equipment to the county government said the consignment will be given to frontline health workers.
Nyamu noted health frontline workers were at a higher risk of contracting the virus and spread it to their patients.
He said the bank had prioritized Mandera as it was one of the high-risk counties in terms of coronavirus infections, being a border county.
The surgical face masks, gumboots and protective clothing will assist in curbing spread of the disease.
The Mandera County Secretary, Abdinoor Hussein thanked the bank for the donation and asked residents to assist the government in combating the scourge.
The donation comes four days after the county registered its first death over corona.
At least 20 persons in the county have been infected with the disease. One died, one is currently in the isolation wards and18 have recovered and have been discharged
