The Meteorological department says strong southerly winds of more than 30 knots (15.4 meters per second) are expected over the coast and eastern sector of the country Thursday (tomorrow).
The powerful wind speed is expected to strengthen to more than 40 knots (20.6 meters per second) on Friday by 3 am.
The strong winds are likely to reduce to 30 knots on Saturday.
The wave height is likely to be more than three meters over the coastal waters on Friday and is expected to reduce to 2.5 meters on Saturday.
Counties expected to be affected include Marsabit, Turkana, Samburu, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale.
Residents in all the mentioned areas are advised to be on the lookout for potential gale (very strong winds) and very large waves over the Indian Ocean.
According to the weatherman the strong winds may blow off roofs, uproot trees and cause structural damage.
Very high waves may lower visibility, cause capsizing of boats and threaten the safety of those engaging in water sports and recreational activities.
Those in areas of concern should be on high alert.

Kwale County meteorological department director Dominic Mbindyo on Wednesday circulated to stakeholders in the coastal county a statement from the director Kenya meteorological department.
He said fishermen and other mariners in the coastal counties of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu are also warned to pay close attention to marine forecast and consider wind and sea conditions before going for their expeditions in the sea.
