Police in Mandera on Saturday morning arrested two individuals in possession 130 Kgs of bhang worth Sh. 800,000, following a tip off by members of the public.
The Mandera East Sub County Police Commander (SCPC) Richard Ngetich said the cannabis sativa was seized in Mandera town by Directorate of criminal investigations officers who also established it was from Moyale.
The SCPC warned drug abuse has been on the rise in the region and was ruining the lives of youths.
Mr. Ngetich said youths in the region have abdicated their daily economic activities and are deeply engaged in the vice and advised them to shun it as it was ruining their future.
North eastern regional coordinator Nicodemus Ndalana also warned use of bhang was on the rise in the region.
Ndalana said the drug was also being fed on donkeys to make them work harder.
