The distribution of food donation through the County government and targeting 10,000 households in Nyeri will start next week.
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has said donations are in the process of being repackaged and will be distributed to over 10,000 households beginning next week.
Speaking Thursday when he received donations of assorted food stuffs from Kikuyu Council of Elders, the governor said the county has planned to be giving out the donations every week.
Kahiga thanked them for this noble gesture assuring them that the donation will be distributed to families who are genuinely in need following the negative effects of Coronavirus.
He also added that plans are underway through the department of Health to find a 300 bed capacity site as recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) for symptomatic patients while asymptomatic patients are being referred for home-based care.
The team led by National Vice Chairman Kikuyu Council of Elders Dr. Eng. David Muthoga lauded the governor for the good work he has been doing, adding that the donation will go a long way in feeding the families adversely affected during the pandemic.
Muthoga called on other well-wishers to join hands and fight the menace through donating food to the vulnerable.
