Individuals join in the fight against corona virus.

A Jua kali artist from Kitale has joined other Kenyans in supplementing government’s effort in fighting the deadly corona virus diseases by innovating an automated booth for sanitization.
Arthur Okwemba has innovated an automated booth that has both a scanner and can test temperature.
“The sanitizing booth is automatic. It senses whenever someone is passing through it to sanitize and also has a thermo scanner to record body temperatures,” he told KNA during the interview at county government’s offices today.
According to Okwemba, the booth that has cost him up to sh. 350,000 will help screen and sanitize more people.
He said that if assisted he will produce more booths to help in the screening exercise that will in turn assist in the fight against coronavirus.
He asked the government to support innovations which he said is key to the boosting of the economy.
Okwemba said that once it passes the bureau of standards tests, the booth will be handed over to the county government for the screening exercise.
Governor Patrick Khaemba congratulated him on the brave idea saying his government supports innovations.
“This sanitizing booth is a unique project that my government will support and I am asking more people to join the fight the corona virus.
Trans Nzoia CEC Trade and Industrialization Simon Kisigei said that the booth would be assessed by Kenya Bureau of Standards for standard qualification before being used.
