Two people are being held by police in Bomet County in connection with an incident in which a form three student at Menet Village of Mogoma location in Bomet East sub-county was allegedly gang raped last Monday.
Eight other suspects were also being sought over the issue that caused hue and cry from members of the public who were demanding for action.
The suspects were arrested after an audio they recorded while committing the offense went viral.
In the audio, the suspects believed to have been 10 in number gang raped the girl in turns as she pleaded with them to have mercy on her. The incident left her with injuries sustained during the ordeal, a relative who sought anonymity revealed.
She added that the girl was discovered at a room belonging to one of the suspects at the village on Monday after she went missing last Sunday.
Preliminary reports indicated that the girl was allegedly lured to the scene of crime by a female friend to one of the suspects who resides in the neighbouring village.
She revealed to her relatives that as darkness approached her friend pretended to have gone to collect supper for her but returned with other men who gang raped her in turns throughout the night.
The victim is receiving treatment at Tenwek Mission Hospital following the gang rape.
Bomet OCPD Samson Rukunga said the two suspects were helping police to arrest their accomplices adding that officers had been dispatched to pursue the suspects who are said to have gone into hiding after committing the offense.
