War against Corona Virus has been boosted in Migori County after Kenya Pipeline distributed over 11,000 litters of sanitisers in two Kuria Constituencies.
Kuria East and Kuria West Constituencies received each at least 5,000 liters of sanitiser.
Each of the constituencies has reported a coronavirus infection case, a situation which has prompted the government to reinforce distribution of the sanitisers in the two areas bordering Tanzania.
The sanitisers were packed in cartons and 20 litter containers.
Kuria East Member of Parliament Marwa Kitayama while receiving the sanitisers in Kegonga on Thursday thanked the government for recognising the need to keep Migori safe in view of its proximity to Tanzania towns considering Tanzania has reportedly recorded surging number of Coronavirus infections.
He said the sanitisers will be evenly distributed to ensure the spread of the virus is contained.
Marwa asked the locals not to welcome relatives in their homes who are spread up to Tanzania till a time when the virus will be contained.
The MP however challenged those claiming that Jubilee led government is doing nothing to control the spread of the virus to assess the measures fronted by the government in every Kenyan village.
Kitayama said the work done by security team and NyumbaKumi network to restrict people movement in Kuria Sub-Counties was truly unprecedented.
Asha Okanga, Kuria East Public Health Officer also addressing at the same function asked the locals to report anybody they suspect has travelled from far noting the virus will be contained if everybody joins the war against.
Speaking separately at Mabera Deputy County Commissioners, Kuria West Member of Parliament Mathias Robi said the government should increase security patrol at the border and challenged the residents to strictly follow the ministry of health rules of social distance, handwashing, sanitizing and use of face masks as way of slowing down the spread of Covid-19.
