Fifteen New Chief Officers sworn into office

Fifteen new Chief Officers (COs) appointed by the Nyandarua Governor, Francis Kimemia  were on Tuesday sworn into office with a call to serve with humility and dedication.

While noting that only the qualified and experienced nominees were rigorously and procedurally nominated as per the guidelines before being presented for vetting and approval, Kimemia warned that he would not desist sacking those who failed to deliver in their respective assigned departments.

He said that his administration would not tolerate corrupt officials as they were mandated to make sure that residents got services with transparency.

“Suggest possible improvements and above all, facilitate real public participation and full project implementation to ensure value for money while maintaining harmonious relations with the National Government,” counseled Kimemia.

He said the county had been marginalized for many years hence a lot was required of the COs and all other county workers to meet the expectations of the people.

The county boss warned, “I need not remind you to observe the highest levels of integrity and accountability in managing public resources. As Accounting Officers, you are professionally and personally accountable for fiscal discipline in your departments.”

He told the Cos to hit the ground running to sustain the development tempo which his government administration was focused towards.

Those  who were sworn in are Samuel Mwangi (Transport and Energy), Lawrence Mwangi (Public works), Dr. Joseph Muchagi (Agriculture), Rose Kajaira (Fisheries), Martin Kabubii (Water and Environment), Mary Waithera (Tourism and Natural Resources) and Samson Kabugi who will serve in the Trade and Industry docket.

Others  are Samuel Kiriri (Cooperative Development), Jeremiah Gitau (Finance) Muigai Wainaina (Economic Development) Isaac Waithaka (Youths and Sports), Mary Ndorongo (Public Administration), Sarah Waithera (Education and Culture Services) Florence Wanzila (Lands and Physical Planning) and Nelson Kamilu to serve in the Health docket.

Riled by the raging insecurity that has recently seen a series of murders in the region, Kimemia called on security agencies to ensure thorough investigations and the arrest of the killers.

The governor called on residents to work closely with law enforcers by giving lead information that would aid in netting the culprits.

On his parts, the Nyandarua County Commissioner (CC), Boaz Cherutich singled out Nyandarua West Sub County as the most hit area.

He said they have invited homicide detectives from Nairobi to help in unraveling a number of murder cases in the area.

This is as police data indicates that about nine people, most of them women, have been murdered in the area in a span of six months in Nyandarua West.

On April 23, 2020, a 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter succumbed to injuries inflicted by their attacker(s) while undergoing treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral hospital.

Eunice Muthoni Ndung’u and Linet Njeri, 5, a Grade One pupil died of head injuries after unknown assailant(s) dug through the wall of the house where the two and other children were sleeping in their Chekaleri village home, Ol Joro Orok.

Cherutich, however assured residents of heightened security, noting that they have since intensified police patrols in hotspots areas.
