Siaya deputy county commissioner (DCC), Joseph Sawe has urged Kenyan residents to heed measures put in place by the government to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Sawe said that the government meant well for its residents and would do all it could to ensure that the effects of the virus remained at minimum in the country.
He was speaking at the county headquarters on Friday while flagging off a Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology community engagement team that went round the county to raise awareness on the need to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.
The DCC, who represented the Siaya county commissioner, Michael ole Tialal during the occasion said public cooperation will see the country wean itself out of the Covid-19 quagmire early.
Sawe at the same time called on the public to have courage and confidence during mass testing of the disease.
The administrator further called on those living in temporary camps after being displaced by floods to ensure that they kept the required distance and sanitisation measures to avoid the spread of the disease.
“We know there are challenges but please, ensure that you do not compromise the set protocols even during your time in temporary shelters,” said the commissioner.
Siaya County has so far recorded two Coronavirus positive cases, one of whom succumbed to the disease while the other is still in isolation at Bondo Kenya Medical Training College.
The two day community engagement exercise is being coordinated by officers from the County Information Office.
