Tailor Samuel Gachanja in Molo has put many smiles on the faces of area police officers after voluntarily making them masks that match their uniform all in a bid to help combat the spread of covid-19 pandemic.
According to Gachanja, he thought it was wise to make them such items after government announcement through the health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe that it is compulsory for one to wear mask when in public places as a measure to curb spread of covid-19.
What went through his mind was to at least ensure police officers, who mostly interact with the public putting them at the risk of contracting Covid-19 while in line of duty, comply with the new government directive.
Gachanja notes that our security men are currently working round the clock given that the curfew still has to be observed and up-to date, he has made over 100 masks to the police and on the masks are written ‘Keep Distance ‘ just to act as a reminder for the social distancing rule to those they come across.
He thanked the Molo OCS for allowing him have the material to make police officers masks, since the public is prohibited from possessing such material.
Additionally, he urged everyone to consistently follow up on the measures issued by the government and chip in the best way possible in the fight against Covid-19 that has so far claimed the lives of 10 Kenyans.
The Molo Sub-County Police Commander, Joseph Karanja has urged the locals to adhere to this rule or in default risk being fined Sh.20, 000 or six months imprisonment or both.
