Stay home, implores Ijara DCC

Ijara Deputy County Commissioner, Samson Towett, has called on residents to stay at home and observe guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health in order to combat the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Launching the Covid-19 sensitization and awareness campaigns for members of the public, Saturday, Towett noted that the local pandemic mitigation committee has set aside a quarantine ward in the event of any suspected cases in the region.

He called on residents to use face masks when in public places and abide by the curfew at night so that the disease is contained.

Towett told the area residents not to doubt about the presence of the disease, stressing that coronavirus was a reality and was here with us. He urged wananchi to maintain high standards of hygiene and ensure that anybody with symptoms of Covid-19 reports urgently to medics who are on standby.

Meanwhile, the Deputy County Commissioner has received a consignment of food items, including 500 bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil from Ijara Member of Parliament (MP), Sophia Abdi Noor.

The MP also sent mosquito nets, sanitizers, shoes, tanks and cartons of soaps to assist vulnerable members of the community.
