Chiefs Urged to Carry out Covid 19 Sensitization,

Kericho County Commissioner Moses Mbaruku has urged chiefs in the county to educate residents on the need to wash hands and practice social distancing to avoid coronavirus pandemic.
The County Commissioner noted that many residents in the county were yet to heed directives from the Ministry of Health to keep a meter distance from each other and ensure that they washed their hands regularly in a bid to win the war against the spread of COVID-19.
“Despite witnessing zero spread of the virus in the county, the residents are yet to observe one meter distance apart from one person to another as most residents have been observed crowding in urban centres in total contravention of the government directive,” Mbaruku said.
He regretted that in urban trading centres like Litein, Kapsoit, Chepseon among others, the residents were yet to fully observe calls to observe social distance.
He said boda boda riders were parking their motorcycles very close to one another as they waited for clients adding that customers milling around secondhand clothes sellers was the order of the day in Litein centre.
He directed chiefs and their assistants to embark on a vigorous campaign of educating the masses in their locations and sub-locations on the need for the residents to observe social distancing in order to help in winning the war against Covid-19 spread.
The CC told chiefs to step up measures to visit people door to door in their locations and educate them on the need of washing hands with soap and clean running water. He said that some 300 water tanks had been distributed by Kericho county government and placed in strategic locations in the county to facilitate hand washing.
