No SCPC was arrested for flouting curfew regulations in Uasin Gishu

Uasin Gishu County police Commander Johnstone Ipara has refuted claims that a senior police officer within the county was among five people arrested for flouting the curfew regulations.
Ipara said it was not true that a sub county police commander (SCPC) was among the suspects who spent Tuesday night at Cheptiret police station after being arrested while drinking at local bar around 8pm long after the dawn to dusk curfew had started.
“Contrary to the claims, my officers arrested five people found drinking at a local bar in total contravention to the government’s curfew order. Following a tip off from members of the public the officers ambushed Eldo pub along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway and managed to arrest the five revelers whom they locked up at the nearby Cheptiret police station overnight,” explained the county police boss during a press briefing at his Eldoret central police station.
Ipara said there was no senior police officer among the arrested who were drinking locked up in one of the rooms in the bar, adding that this was against the ministry of health guidelines on social distance and gathering.
“Among the arrested was the bar manager and an attendant, all the offenders were taken to Uasin Gishu district hospital for screening and other medical examination before they were returned to custody,” said Ipara.
