Parents letting their children to loiter in town to be arrested.

Parents whose children will be found loitering in Homa Bay town will be put under forced quarantine for 14 days at their own cost together with their children.

It has been reported that children are now walking aimlessly instead of remaining at home since the government suspended learning last month as a way curbing the spread of the COVID-19 in the country.

Addressing the press at his office, the Homa Bay County Commissioner
David Kipkemei said that some irresponsible parents are leaving their children to roam the streets instead of studying.

“The schools were closed so that these children cannot contract the
killer virus but some parents are not seeing that. They let their kids
walk around and don’t care about the wellbeing of their children even
at this critical time, “the Commissioner said.

Kipkemei added that the fight against the spread of coronavirus in
the country is not only for the national government and the county
government but a collective fight and everybody
should team up against the fight.

“Your contribution as parents against the fight of the virus is to
follow the directives issued and to also to make sure that your
children are following them,” Kipkemei said

The County Commissioner further said that social distance is still a
challenge to the residents saying that people are still congesting the market places while buying food.

“We want all of us to be responsible, you are not doing us any favor
by observing the directives but you are helping yourself,” the county
commissioner said

The administrator said that the police officers who are not observing
social distance while travelling are just risking their lives.

At the same time Kipkemei warned boda boda riders against ferrying
more than one passenger saying that if they are caught, the motorbikes will be
confiscated until the pandemic is over.
