The Kirinyaga Deputy Governor, Peter Ndambiri has pledged to continue working with his governor Anne Waiguru claiming that the ongoing mudslinging against him was meant to intimidate and force him out of office.
Ndambiri however, dismissed his critics as inconsequential and told them they would have to wait for a long time since he was elected the Deputy to Governor Anne Waiguru by voters from the county.
“I want to assure the governor that at no time have I ever been disloyal to her contrary to what some ill-advised quarters were insinuating, and at no time have I ever incited or bribed the MCAs to come up with the impeachment motion,” he said.
Last week, while distributing water tanks for various markets and bus parks in the county, Governor Waiguru declined to respond to the impeachment motion and added that she was not ready to make political statements at the expense of the fight against corona virus.
During the function held outside her Kutus town office, Ndambiri was for the first time missing at the function leading to speculations that he had been denied access to his office. He also said those county employees who were going round the area peddling unprintable insults at him should be forgiven since they were only being misused by certain people out to settle political scores.
“I have forgiven all those who are insulting me and wish to remind them that I am the constitutionally elected Deputy Governor of this great county and those with other views to the contrary will have to wait till 2022,” he said.
The impeachment motion which was to mature for debate in the Kirinyaga County Assembly Wednesday has been stopped by High Court Judge Weldon Korir, saying the current Covid-19 pandemic will violate her constitutional rights to fair hearing.
Speaking at Githogondo slums in Ngurubani town on Tuesday, Mwea East Sub-county when he distributed an assortment of foodstuffs to the vulnerable in the area, Ndambiri said although the insults hurled at him were unbearable, he had forgiven those involved.
“I have forgiven all those who hurled insults at me since they were only ignorant of what they were doing. I will continue to serve as the Deputy Governor by discharging duties Waiguru assigns me as per the constitutional mandate of my office but can’t resign as demanded by the critics,” he said.
Like his boss, he said his preoccupation was the fight against the spread of the corona virus and being mindful of the less fortunate and vulnerable in the society.
