A 12-year-old boy from Kapset sub-location, Konoin sub-county took his life fearing punishment after he was accused of stealing Sh300 from his uncle.
His father Robert Ng’etich found the boy’s body hanging on a tree near their home after he went underground the previous night.
The boy is suspected to have stolen the money from his uncle, which he used to buy a new wristwatch. The uncle had reported losing the same amount that he had left on his living room table.
On being grilled over the watch, the boy gave out Sh100 that he had been left with and disappeared from home only for his body to be discovered the following day.
Area Assistant Chief Dalmas Kitur confirmed the incident and advised parents not to be too harsh while disciplining their children.
The body was removed to Kapkatet Hospital morgue as burial arrangements proceeds.
