Mvurya Now Backs BBI Report

Kwale county governor Salim Mvurya has said he will spearhead campaigns to popularize the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) across the 20 wards in the region.

Mvurya said the BBI report is a unifying process that should be supported by all leaders and residents.

He said together with other leaders they will be seeking grassroots support for the BBI process that also seeks to end among others election related violence and hostility among diverse communities in the country.

He was speaking when he launched street lighting project worth Sh.26 million for Ukunda and Diani townships supported by both county and national governments.

The county boss said the report will in the long run ensure accountability, transparency and integrity in the management of public affairs at county and national levels.

“We will make sure that our people read and understand the BBI proposals and make their inputs known,” said Mvurya who was flanked by local MPs Suleiman Dori and Benjamin Tayari of Msambweni and Kinango constituencies respectively.

He went on: “The recommendations of the BBI if properly implemented will be good for this country as it contains the views of the citizens.”

He said the leadership in Kwale is fully behind the report as it advocates for inclusivity and representation of marginalized groups especially women and youth through leadership positions.
