Heavily armed suspected Al Shabaab militants on Sunday night ambushed a trading centre in Garissa County and selectively killed three non-local male teachers at Kamuthe Resource centre in Fafi Sub-county about 50 kilometres from Garissa town.
The gunmen reportedly overran and torched Kamuthe Administration Police Post after outgunning the security officers manning the camp, forcing them to flee into neighbouring thickets.
The militants who took control of the local trading centre later rounded up all non-local public servants before parading them for execution.
One child reportedly sustained a bullet wound during the incident after a stray bullet hit him during the shootings.
Garissa County Commissioner, Meru Mwangi, confirmed that the bodies of three male teachers were recovered at Kamuthe Resource Centre in what appeared to be cold blood killings.
Preliminary reports into the incident, however, indicated the militant spared the life of all the female public servants rounded up during the dawn raid but their whereabouts after the incident remained vague by the time going to press.
However, a contingent of security personnel led by the County Commissioner was at the scene to track down on the attackers who also destroyed critical communication installations.
Villagers said unknown numbers of gunmen armed with explosives blew up the Safaricom mast before overrunning the local AP camp where they torched and vandalized the security installation in the wee hours of the morning.
Efforts to reach the County Commissioner were futile, as the militants had destroyed communication transmission equipment at the center.
The incident after two other non local teachers were also killed last month after the militants waylaid a mendera bound bus in wajir in which eight police officers were also executed in a similar fashion.
