Imbalambala among six players dropped by Vihiga United

Kenya Premier League side Vihiga United has dropped six players among them former AFC Leopards defender Martin Imbalambala.
Others dropped are Wycliffe Kabaji, Victor Ayugi, William Oricho, Jacob Atinda and Denis Lugalia who joined the side in 2016 from Silibwet FC.
Before joining Vihiga United commonly referred to as VU by club’s fans, Imbalambala played for local Premier League rivals Kakamega Homeboyz.
Addressing the press at the Club’s Kidundu training ground, Vihiga United tactician Edward Manoah revealed that Imbalambala’s social issues informed the decision to axe him from the squad
However, he hailed the six released players for the professional contribution they gave the club as he wished them luck in their future assignments.
Manoah revealed that the club seeks to inject four more youthful players in the squad during the mid-season transfer window which opens doors on June 1, 2018.
“The steps we are taking are meant to improve the team as we move forward into the second phase of Kenya Premier League which to us is very crucial. We are anticipating to sign close to four youthful players by the end of the midseason transfer window. The four players will be of a great impact to the team,” said Manoah.
Adding that their maiden performance in the League has fallen below expectations, the veteran tactician challenged fans to continue supporting the team for posterity.
“We are asking people not to read much into the changes. We are only building structures which will ensure that the team is there to stay. The points we collected in the first leg was because of the fans. We urge them to continue supporting us as we go into the second leg,” said Manoah.
After 17 KPL first leg matches, Vihiga United sits in position 12 with 19 points and as earlier revealed to KNA by Manoah, the Club has set retaining premier league status as the top target this season.
