Kakamega county government has procured 72 desk phones for its officers to enhance communication and information exchange.
The phones, valued at Sh. 432,000, are designed to operate with the latest digital communication technology.
The Public Service and Administration Executive, Beatrice Sabana said the gadgets have been distributed to all ward and sub county offices so as to facilitate communication between the administrators, other government officers as well as members of the public.
Sabana said the phones will operate on a 24/7 basis to enable faster reporting of emergency issues such as disasters by members of the public.
She added that the county administration intends to transform the sub county and ward offices into hubs for delivery of government services and access to information by the public.
The executive said as a devolved unit, they want to ensure optimal and efficient services are offered to the public.
