Sixty students from Isiolo County are expected to join the public universities after attaining minimum entry grade of C+.
According to the County Director of Education Dr. Hussein Koriyow the figure has increased from last year when 49 students got university admission.
Speaking to KNA in his office Friday, Dr. Koriyow said that the public and especially the County category schools, among them Garbatulla High posted commendable improvement.
He added that 10 sub-county schools have been promoted to county status, while two day schools would be made low cost boarding from next month.
The county education boss said that Ngaremara boys and Manyatta Zebra girls would become boarding schools and already the dormitories are ready for use by first week of 2020.
He added that schools from remote areas perform better than those from around towns despite the hardship during the drought and rain seasons.
Dr. Koriyow said that his office and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) were working hard to have teachers’ balancing in all schools across the county and warned those using politicians to influence the relocation that stern action to be taken against them.
He said primary schools in Merti and Garbatula Sub-counties had shown improvement despite teachers’ shortage and so there was need for staff balancing.
