Two robbers armed with an AK 47 riffle on Tuesday invaded a vehicle belonging to the Manager of Frankmart Supermarket and made away with about sh. 800,000.
According to the owner of the Supermarket, Francis Maingi, the incident took place a few metres from Busia weighbridge at his go- down located at Korinda roadblock.
“My Manager was attacked by armed robbers while taking the money to the bank,” he said, adding that the suspects fired bullets in the air before making away with the money using a motorbike.
Maingi urged police to carry out investigations and ensure that the suspects are arrested adding that they had provided the security officers with CCTV footage.
“We have provided them with CCTV footage and we expect they will arrest the criminals soon,” he said adding that it is not the first time his premises has been robbed at gun point. In March this year my premises suffered a similar incident and we availed CCTV footage to police officers but no arrests have been made to date,” he lamented.
The businessman challenged security officers to be responsible and protect the property of the local investors who have pumped a lot of money in their businesses.
