The  Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Organizing Secretary (OS), Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa has urged the youth to be disciplined and guard against crime and immoral behavior that could jeopardize their future.

Sheikh Khalifa noted the future of the country rested on the youth hence it was necessary for them to grow up with a sense of discipline.

The cleric asked young people to desist from vices such as radicalization, crime and drug and substance abuse.

The  OS  spoke at the Star of the Sea Community Hall on Saturday  in the company of Mombasa Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Eliud Arumba while addressing students drawn from public schools across Mombasa.

He  said  CIPK in conjunction with the police has launched a peace caravan dubbed ‘Tuimarishe Amani Pwani’ aimed at preaching peace in the coastal city.

The  OS said majority of the crimes committed by the youth is as a result of drug abuse.

“Parents and guardians need to nurture their children into responsible people as they grow before they regret the consequences of their bad behavior,” he said.

Sheikh Khalifa  asked parents and guardians to help the youth with sound advice to help them make informed decisions in life.

Arumba  said the youth should not allow themselves to be used to foment trouble which eventually would affect their future.

He  asked the youth to stay away from any criminal acts and volunteer information on suspected criminals to the security agencies for action.

The  OCPD challenged them to shun all activities that may lead them into conflict with the law.
