County to empower youth through training

The  Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has said his government is committed to empowering the youth by offering them free vocational training.

Speaking  in Machakos on Sunday, Dr. Mutua said his government is providing free training in all the 40 polytechnics in an effort to create a skilled workforce

The  Governor noted that this would help meet the high demand for masons, electricians, tilers, plumbers and supervisors owing to the massive economic growth and construction going on in the county.

“My  economic projection arising from my planning and execution is that from this coming year for the next 10 years, Machakos will grow at an unprecedented pace. We have set the stage for the enrichment of our people.”

The  Governor further urged all qualified personnel to seek employment in the various government and private sector projects going on across the eight sub counties to earn a living and help transform the country.

“My Government has created an enabling environment for business to thrive so that jobs can be created and people made richer. As a result, in every corner of the county, we have many projects going on,” added Dr. Mutua

In October 2018, the county government promised to waive all tuition fees charged in all the polytechnics in the county.

According to the Governor, the move was aimed at encouraging a quick uptake of technical skills by youth in the county.
