Robbery Suspects Charged Afresh

Three men last Tuesday appeared before a Kiambu court charged with engaging in a spate of violent robberies along Runda Drive in nairobi County.

The trio Duncun Odhiambo, William Saitoti and Benard Mutua Matheka faced three counts  3 of robbery with violence while armed with firearms and crude weapons

They however denied the charges before Kiambu Senoir Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo

The third accused  had jointly been presented in court last week alongside a male and a female suspect who were  ealier released after the investigation officer told court that he had not found tangible evidence to connect them to the series of robberies in Runda.

Prior to their plea taking their miscellenous file was closed and the other suspects released unconditionally.

The trio were charged that on 6th of November 2019 at Runda drive house No 150 within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court while armed with dangerous weapons namely firearms and metal bars robbed Raduks Vora of household goods comprising of electronics, phones, watches, jewellery and cash all valued 1,127,000 shillings and at that time of such a robbery threatened to use actual violence against the complainant.

Count 2 stated that on the 6th November 2019 at Runda drive house No 150 within Nairobi County while armed with crude weapons robbed Rukia Chelagat of a mobile phone make Huawei Y3 valued at 10,000, mpesa money totalling 15,061 shillings all valued at 25,061 shillings and that at the time of such a robbery threatened to use actual violence against the complainant.

According to count 3, the trio violently robbed Julius Mutua Wambua of a mobile phone Itel P valued at 6,500 shillings and M-Pesa cash totalling to 3,500 shillings and that at the time of such a robbery, they used actual violence on the complainant contrary to section 296(a) of the penal code.

They were released on a bond of 500,000 or alternatively a cash bail of similar amount. Their case was fixed for hearing on 19th Feb 2020 and will be mentioned on 6th December 2019.

The same court also charged a man with housebreaking with intent to commit a felony.

Peter Kimani was charged that on 23rd November 2019 at Karura Village in Kiambaa within Kiambu County, he broke and entered a house belonging to John Kimani Waweru with intent to steal from them.

Count 2 stated that on the same day, and scene, he stole one Tv size 24 inch make LG, DVD player make sony, sonar decoder, Radio hot point, pro gas meko,complete with burner all valued at 32,500 shillings the property of John Kimani Waweru.

In Count 3, he was charged that otherwise than in the course of stealing, dishonestly retained the goods knowing or having reason to believe them to be stolen.

He pleaded not guilty and his case was fixed for hearing on Feb 21,2020. It will be mentioned on December 6th, 2019.He was released on a bond of 100 shillings with a surety of similar amount.

He amused the court when the magistrate recognized him, “You have appeared before this court before?” he said yes and i was charged with robbery with violence in a case in which i  was acquitted, he answered to the amusement of the court.
