The Chairman of Small Scale Business Enterprises (SMEs) in Nakuru County Johnson Ndegwa has appealed to residents to read the just-released Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report before making any conclusion about it.
Ndegwa said the report which was released yesterday at Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi has the capacity of improving business, if all the suggestions were adhered to and especially the one which locked public servants from state tenders to curb conflict of interest. He was speaking yesterday during the training of SMEs operators in Njoro town. He however called for the government to increase civil servants’ salaries to curb corruption.
Ndegwa appealed to local politicians to support and popularize the BBI because it denotes a new beginning for the government adding it was the only report, which has addressed the need for behavioral change by both leaders and citizens.
“We should take a leaf from Japan where the first ten years of a child’s live is dedicated to learning good manners and the positive traditions of the nation, and that alone has played a pivotal role in the country being a manufacturing giant of cars and other products,” he advised.
He thus urged parents to read the BBI report with their children during this holiday season in order to inculcate patriotism and positive behaviors in them.
He appealed to Njoro traders to strive to develop the town, which has stagnated for a long time, despite being one of the oldest towns in the country. It was started in 1902 by the white settlers, who preferred the cool weather of the area.
