Border protection unit police officer’s body found dangling from a tree

The  body of an Administration Police officer attached to Bulluk Border Protection Unit (BPU) camp who went missing on Monday was found dangling from a tree in Sabare area, Dukana division of North Horr sub-county in Marsabit County.

The  North Horr Sub-county Police Commander, Mohamed  Abdi  said herders through an elder reported that they had  found a body hanging on a tree at Araftiris.

Abdi  said the officer of the rank of constable was working at the Bulluk BPU camp, adding that the body was found on Thursday  along the Dukan-Sabare-Bulluk road.

A  search by the police upon visiting the scene recovered the body that was tied to a tree with a lanyard.

It is suspected that the officer might have committed suicide for reasons yet to be established.

The  officer  was reported missing on November 18, this year only for his body, which had started rotting to be found dangling from a tree.

Abdi  said police also recovered a bag containing clothes and documents belonging to the deceased scattered by the roadside.

The  body was taken to Dukana police station before being removed to the mortuary.

Investigations have been instituted into the incident to establish the real cause of the police officer’s death.
