Embu Seals Ksh 25.5 billion deal with a chinese firm

County government of Embu has signed a Ksh 25.5 billion investment deal with a chinese engineering firm.

The partnering with Shanxi Dikuang Engineering Construction Company Ltd (SDOEC) will see the construction of an agricultural demonstration park and a value addition park to the tune of Sh 1 billion.

The investment deal will also involve mineral resource prospecting and exploration development and processing project at Sh 4 billion

.The MOU will also target development of hospitality facilities and support infrastructure at the Mwea Game Reserve at a cost of Kshs 5 billion.

According to the deal the partnership will also focus on construction of a waste treatment plant and energy production from waste treatment worth of Kshs 10 Billion and a cultural and exchange programme to the tune of Kshs 500 million.

While Speaking during the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Embu town, Governor Martin Wambora welcomed the partnership adding that the partnership will ensure effective resource mobilisation and wealth creation for the county.

“We are looking forward to work with SDOC to implement the proposed projects and further develop Embu County. We further encourage other partners to invest in Embu especially in value addition of Avocado, Coffee and tea sectors,”  said Governor Wambora .

He added that the project funds will be guaranteed by the Provincial government of Shanxi in China in accordance with the requirements by The National Treasury of Kenya.

The Head of delegation from China, Vice Governor of Shanxi Provincial Government Mr He Tiancia said that all the projects will be implemented by way of engineering, procurement, construction and financing arrangement between the Embu County Government and SDOC.

“This is a great moment for the people’s government of the province of Shanxi and we hope it will create  along lasting relationship between the two governments in future,” added Vice Governor Tiancai.

Mr. Tiancai further added that all the projects implemented will employ applicable technology transfer and help in creating jobs for the residents in Embu County.

SDOC is one of the largest geological prospecting bureau in China and has interest in energy, environment, forestry and mining projects across the world.

The bureau was represented by its General Director,  Peng Dongxio among other senior officials.
