Police in Kitale have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a woman who disappeared from her home on Wednesday last week.
The Trans Nzoia County Police Commander (CPC), Ayubu Ali Gitonga told the press in his office on Wednesday that the body of the woman was recovered in Kinyoro on Thursday last week.
Police suspect that the woman might have been raped and killed in a different place and her body dumped some 10 kilometers away from her home.
The police commander said the suspects, Geofrey Wekesa, Samuel Wanjala and Ben Simiyu are in police custody helping police with investigations.
He called on residents to volunteer information about the murder to help police get to the root of the crime that has left residents living in fear.
“Am urging residents to co-operate with police to curb insecurity incidents in the county,” the police commander said.
The trio will be charged with murder once police complete investigations. The body of the woman is lying at Kitale Referral hospital mortuary.
