Departmental heads in Makueni county asked to display service charters

The  National  government heads of departments in Makueni County have been directed to develop and display service charters as a way of providing effective and efficient services to the public.

The  announcement  was made on Tuesday by the Makueni County Commissioner (CC), Maalim Mohammed  when he made an impromptu visit  to  the department of County Civil Registrar headed by Joseph Orata.

While saying he was pleased with the services offered, Mohammed directed Orata to ensure a service charter was developed to guide the public on the necessary documents and cost of the certificates.

“I have interacted with members of the public who have confirmed their satisfaction with timely issuance of birth and death certificates,” said Mohammed.

Consequently, the administrator  said that he would move around the building on Monday next  week to check whether the directive has been implemented.

When  contacted for his comment, Orata said that the service charter is supposed to be provided from his Ministry’s Headquarter in Nairobi but quickly added that he would improvise ways of letting public know what they do.

“As I wait for the service charter to be delivered from the Ministry headquarters in Nairobi, I will put on the notice board the services we offer and the cost,” he said.
