A female secondary School Principal died while two of her colleagues sustained serious injuries after a vehicle they were traveling in hit a stationary truck along Naivasha Mai Mahiu road on Monday morning.
The trio were said to be heading to Naivasha sub-county offices to pick KCSE examination papers when their driver hit a trailer that had broken down near Jikaze IDP camp a few kilometres from Mai Mahiu town.
The Naivasha Sub County Police Commander (SCPC), Samuel Waweru said the deceased was a Principal at Jeremiah Gitau Secondary School which is a private school in Mai Mahiu while the other two were said to be Principals in Kiambogo and Mustard Seed Secondary Schools.
The SCPC said the body was moved to a local hospital mortuary while the injured were recuperating at the Kijabe Mission Hospital where they were rushed after the early morning accident.
The mangled wrecks of the two vehicles were towed to Mai Mahiu police station even as police started investigations into the incident.
Waweru told the press that preliminary reports indicated that the driver of the saloon car hit the stationary trailer from the back killing the head-teacher on the spot.
Following the early morning accident, education officials led by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Director and CEO, Dr. Julius Jwan had to cut short their trip to monitor exams in Nakuru town and went straight to the affected schools all located within Naivasha sub county.
